The International Daoist Society - IDS (www.lishiarts.org) was founded in the UK by Chan Kam Lee in the 1930's and is the membership organisation responsible for maintaining the quality standards of teachers and students of the activity throughout the world. It is probably the oldest Daoist organisation in Europe. Prior to the 1980's the IDS consisted of various associations including the International Wu Shu Association and the Chinese Cultural Arts Association which were then amalgamated by Chee Soo into one cohesive organisation which has continued ever since. Fourteen years ago, shortly before his death Chee Soo named Desmond Murray in Leeds as the inheritor of this system and the future President of the International Daoist Society (IDS). In 1998, Desmond Murray established the College of Chinese Physical Culture (www.collegeofcpc.org.uk) as a sister organisation to the IDS in England responsible for offering social applications of Lishi to benefit people of all ages in schools, universities, hospitals, community centres and workplace's.
The IDS currently has classes and members in the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Holland, Denmark, Australia, the USA and China.
